Greg Woolf


About

Greg Woolf has since July 2021 been Ronald J. Mellor Professor of Ancient History in the University of California, Los Angeles. Before taking up this post he directed the Institute of Classical Studies in the School of Advanced Study of the University of London and was Professor of Classics there (2015–2021). Prior to that position he was Professor of Ancient History at the University of St Andrews (from 1998) following a number of fellowships in various Cambridge and Oxford Colleges.

Woolf has degrees from Oxford and Cambridge, and has held visiting positions in Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. He is a British Citizen and divides his time between Scotland and California.
