Born in Madrid in1974. BA in Classical Philology, BA in Hispanic Philology and Bachelor in Law. PhD in Classical Philology (2005) and PhD in Social History (2011). Currently Hernandez de la Fuente is Full Professor of Greek Philology at the Department of Classics at Complutense University of Madrid. He has been Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universität Potsdam (Germany), Saint Louis University (Madrid Campus) and UNED. He has been visiting scholar or lecturer at Columbia University, Università di Firenze, CNRS (Paris), Akademie der Wissenschaften (Berlin), Université Paris-X Nanterre, Freie Universität Berlin and Université d'Artois, among other institutions.
Hernandez de la Fuente has received awards such as the Prize of the Pastor Foundation for Classical Studies (2005) to his dissertation in Classical Philology or the Burgen Scholarship Award of the Academia Europaea (2014), and several grants and prestigious fellowships –“Juan de la Cierva” (2005), “Jose Castillejo” (2007), “Alexander von Humboldt” (2009), “Ramón y Cajal” (2011), “Beatriu Pinós” (2011), etc.–; and he has led, as principal investigator, numerous research projects with public funding, participating as a collaborator on many other at a regional, national and european level.
He is member of editorial boards of several journals and collections of monographs and participates in several research groups (ISTA, GIRPAM, Vera et falsa Historia, Potestas, Nomos, Koinonia, etc.).
