Studien zur Geschichte der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft
Three guiding principles underlie the series about the history of the German Research Foundation (“Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft”, DFG): First, the research policy of the DFG during the Nazi period is placed within the (research) policy trends of that time. Second, focus is on the projects sponsored by the DFG, their context in the history of science and politics and their importance also with regard to international research trends and standards. Third, interdisciplinary development is highlighted, with a focus on individual scientific projects, approaches, discourses and biographies. The period under investigation stretches from the 1920s to the 1970s. The outcomes of the symposia, held as part of the project, are published in the series Beitraege, while monographs appear in the Studien.
Edited by Ruediger vom Bruch (†), Ulrich Herbert and Patrick Wagner.
