Medical Philologies

Medizinische Philologien

The book series Medical Philologies / Medizinische Philologien belongs to the broad field of Medical Humanities. However, by focusing on the foundation of all disciplines and topics that comprise them, namely language and its philological understanding, it initiates a project with sharper contours. From an interdisciplinary, comparative, and theoretically advanced perspective, this series is dedicated to the entire international textual corpus of issues relating synchronically and diachronically to medicine and the medical. The emphasis of the contributions will be on ‘non-literary’ and ‘literary’ texts which discuss medical themes and their textuality, including their aesthetic, narrative, and rhetorical devices. In addition to original contributions, translations and new editions of texts with a medical subject-matter will appear in the series.

Publishing information

Please send manuscript submissions to the editors of the series (Emmrich@em.uni-frankfurt.de) or to our acquisition managers (service@steiner-verlag.de). The book series is open to monographs (including dissertations and habilitations) and edited volumes. The manuscript must not have been previously published (including in other languages) and must not have been submitted elsewhere during the reviewing process. Monographs must be complete and fully finished. For multi-authored volumes contact us as early as possible with details of the planned contributions. In initial submissions, our publication guidelines or citation rules do not have to be strictly followed.

The decision on publication will be based on a double-blind peer review process. A renowned, international and interdisciplinary advisory board supports the editorial team. Publication languages are German and English (uniformly American or British).

Your manuscript has been accepted for Medical Philologies, you have your publishing contract in your hand, and now you would like to know what happens next? Here you can download a guide which will give you an overview of the book-making process and information on the citation styles of our series. Every project is different, however, and we prefer tailor-made solutions to standardisation down to the last detail. So, if you have any questions, please write to us or give us a call.
