Björn Forsén


About

Björn Forsén received his doctorate in History at the University of Helsinki in 1997. From 1998 to 2003 he held post doc fellowships and positions at the University of Heidelberg, the Center of Hellenic Studies at Harvard University, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Bergen and Lund University. He became a Docent of History at the University of Helsinki in 1999 and a Docent of Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Lund University in 2003.

Forsén was hired as Senior Lecturer of History at the University of Helsinki in 2003 but served as Director of the Finnish Institute at Athens 2004–2007 and 2018–2020, and Acting Professor of History at the University of Helsinki 2007–2010 and 2015–2018. Since 2022 he is Research Director of the project „Encounters between East and West in the Greek World“ at the University of Helsinki.
