Lucia J. Linares completed her undergraduate degree at the University of York in History and Politics specialising in the History of Political Thought and International Relations. She subsequently went on to complete her postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge in International Studies and Politics where her masters dissertation explored theories of violence.
Her doctorate, also at the University of Cambridge, examined conceptions of citizenship, national belonging and secularism in Germany in the period of the First World War. During her doctorate she also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Cambridge Review of International Affairs. She has worked in the European Union, North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the United Nations. Her research interests centre around minority rights, multiculturalism, the nation state, international organisations and the post-1918 world order.
