Metadata management
Visibility and discoverability
- Effective metadata management is essential to ensure that your publication, be it a monograph or an article in an edited volume or journal, can be found in today’s flood of information. As standard, we prepare metadata such as title, year of publication, ISBN, author, OA licence, DOI and others in MARC21 and ONIX formats. We distribute this data to the German National Library and the Verzeichnis lieferbarer Buecher (VLB), among others. This makes your volume visible and findable in library catalogues and online shops of booksellers in Germany and abroad.
- We work with international information service providers such as Ex Libris, EBSCO, OCLC and Google to make your publication accessible to a large audience worldwide. Via our e-library BiblioScout, we supply the metadata of your publication to databases that are used millions of times a day for scientific research. These include ALMA, Google Scholar, Worldcat and Primo Summon.
Abstracting and indexing
- Abstracting and indexing services help to find relevant and trustworthy information. They aggregate metadata and/or full texts of journal articles, enhancing visibility and discoverability. By analysing citation metrics, conclusions can also be drawn about the scholarly relevance of publications.
- Listing in relevant bibliographies and abstracting and indexing services increases publicity and availability of journals. As a result, the citation rate of articles can be increased, and the journal can appear more attractive to potential contributors.
- Depending on the subjects, we decide together with our editors which databases or abstracting and indexing services are suitable for each journal. As a publisher, we fulfil all the relevant formal requirements of important providers such as Scopus and Web of Science, for example in our web shop and in the bibliographic and legal details of our publications. We supply the respective databases with all the necessary metadata and/or full text data as soon as the journal issue is published to make your work visible immediately.
