We do not prescribe a mandatory “house style” with regard to citations. It is only important that the volumes are uniform and carefully edited.
We have compiled a – non-binding – publishing standard that authors and editors can, but do not have to, adhere to.
In the series listed below, however, the citation method is prescribed by the editorial board – either with recourse to the publisher’s standard or through their own regulations. If your volume appears in one of these series, we would ask you to adhere to the respective guidelines.
In particular, contributors to edited volumes who do not publish in one of the series listed here should contact the editors of their volume at an early stage in order to clarify formal requirements.
